First real dive of the season, since it's too freaking cold to dive in the NE in winter in a wetsuit, and I've been dealing with a broken finger for a month. Well today I took off my splint, taped it up, and got back in the water :)

Well, I have my new back inflate BC, new computer. Having the computer on my wrist and just an SPG (no console) at my side was very convenient. I cringed as I saw my buddy's console dragging in the muck below him.. never realized how big an effect it had. My BC, while not a BP/harness, feels very streamlined and has noticably less drag than the normal BC I had before.. even more pronounced in open water than in the pool.

Speaking of streamlined, I also ditched the snorkel. Not having that thing in the way was a wonderful feeling. I also dropped from 30 to 24 pounds of weight with no problems. Feels nice to lose 6 pounds ;)

I'm also now diving long hose/backup on necklace. MMMMM, I can't believe the agencies don't teach such a superior system. My buddy did a surprise OOA at 65 feet.. in a pinch, swimming the 8 feet to him with the reg extended, full arm's length towards him and the backup SO handy around the neck. I felt much more in control, oriented, and safer than the horrendous hose routing I used before.

I know most of this is old news to you guys (heck, it's old news to me really), but I was just so happy and impressed with how much a difference these changes made I had to rave about them. Thanks and kudos to scuba board for helping me with a lot of these :) :)
