Good article, I never really thought about lack of women in maritime trades. In my 30's I owned my own boat (just a 20 foot runabout) and a waverunner. I guess that was kind of different - none of my friends had watercraft. Need to empower women to get out on the water!

I have a cousin, unlimited master on a drill ship off of Africa. Makes $350k a year plus bonus for working 6 months. She just had a year of family leave on full pay for having a child. She is on her first hitch back.
