WKPP - October 2015 Update.
Taking full advantage of some clear water in the Wakulla - Leon Sinks Cave system, WKPP explorers managed a series of impressive dives at multiple sites.
Traveling upstream from Emerald Sink, AJ Gonzales and Brian Richardson deployed the Cave Radio Locator at the Bitter End junction and captured additional survey towards Big Dismal Sink while Cal Jamison, Casey McKinlay, and David Doolette worked topside to find the radio signal and find the precise location of the junction room. Huge thanks to Alessandro Fenu and Clemenzo Schützenhofer for assisting with several dives including the retrieval of the CRL unit.
Down south, Fraser Purdon and AJ discovered a new passage with upstream and downstream sections heading NE-E-SE upstream from Turner Sink. Several follow up dives by AJ, John Rose and David Doolette have produced 3,000ft of mapped passageway and the end of the line in both directions is wide open. This is the real deal (not potential EOL). All passages mapped including video on each dive. Team cartographer John Rose has already factored into the existing system map. Further work upstream Turner by Mark Garland, Steve Cox, Blake Wilson, and John Rose resulted in new western passageway as this area keeps revealing secrets. Thanks to Howard, Kyle, Kirill and the other support divers for making the past month possible.
Unfortunately the rain has arrived with more than 5+ inches last week. This will flood things out but we are ready to go when it clears. Stay tuned.
