Hey ya'll. Been diving Coz for 10 years but this will be my first time diving with Dive Paradise. Looked at their site and they use 120 instead of AL80. Never used a 120 but have spearfishing buddies who do and they have adapters (Yoke to DIN). Does anyone know what the connection is on the 120's Dive Paradise uses? Is my yoke ok, or do I need to bring my own adapter? Also, I usually dive AL80's with about 14 lbs (sometimes 12). What would my weight (if any) with the 120's? I'm 200 dives but know absolutely nothing about the steel tanks, which is why I'm diving with Paradise. Looking for something new. Thanks in advance.

Hi Wayne,

Dive Paradise does not use Steel 120's, they use AL 80's - not sure where the confusion is ut I just confirmed this with an Instructor friend of mine who works for Dive Paradise. Your yoke valve will be perfect :)

Since when has Dive Paradise provided 120s? As far as I know, they have always used AL80s, which I think that you can upgrade by request and extra charge to AL100s. As far as I know, there are only 3 Dive Ops on Cozumel that offer Steel 120s - Aldora, Liquid Blue, and one other (I forget which one), and all will take the Yoke connection. Several years ago, when I think Aldora was the only Op offering HP Steel 120s, those tanks required a DIN connector, but Aldora provided adaptors. You just dropped off your equipment the afternoon of your arrival, they put on the DIN adaptor, and your equipment was set to go on the boat. But even that's unnecessary now; pretty certain all the tanks are set up for Yokes.

Liquid Blue
Living Underwater
Aldora

Are the steel tank ops. Liquid Blue has been around since 2002 (new ownership since 2013), Living Underwater since 2001 - so they've been around more than a "few" years - haha!

OK, guys my fault. Wrong Op. I've alway wanted to try staying at Hotel Barracuda and have booked there. I know they have a dive op there, but there's another that picks up at Barracuda, Aldora? Anyway they highlight the fact that they have 120's and offer an "EDP" trip for about $95. Personally, size of tank doesn't matter to me. My problem is that I've used Dive with Martin the last two years but they will only go as far up as Cozumel Palace. Used DWM because I liked their fast little boats, always put me with experienced divers (6-8) and stored my gear. I do not want cattle boats and I've become lazy. I want to leave my gear on the boat. Anyone like that who will pick me up at Barracuda?

HI Wayne,

We meet all of these requests :)

OK Christi, I've been reading you for years on this site. Let's book it. Do you want me to go to your site and email, get the number from your site and call?

Christi, just sent you you an email. Again...sorry for the confusion. My wife was my dive buddy for ten years (passed recently) and she never wanted to stay in town. She loved the "resorts". But all I need is a room, fast boat, gear storage and able to walk around town when not diving. Barracuda seems to fit the bill. Thanks again Christi. Look forward to diving with your op.

Hey, when you get as old as I am, 15 years seems like just yesterday - where did the time go?
Yep! When I say I'm AOW, it's not just advanced cert, it's advanced age! But hey, 61 and still spearing 65lb AJ's off the Gulf rigs. Thank you Lord!
