I went to a place this weekend called the lost sea, tn. There is an underground lake, and in the lake there are caves. Our guide said that down in the cave bubbles from some divers made a large peice of rock fall from the roof of the cavern. So my question is do you blow bubbles while using a ReBreather, or is there any thing you can use that does not make bubbles, maybe some sort of surface supplied air or maybe something else. Will there always be bubbles in mist as i dive?????

Closed Circuit Rebreathers have very few bubbles. I believe there are a few as you come shallower from depth, but nothing like normal OC scuba.

open circuit. simply breathe in and out, dumping air back into water. oc is the scuba most people think of

Oh........
Open Circuit. That means you breath it in from your tank and exhale into the water.

Closed circuit means that the air goes around in a closed loop passing through a 'scrubber' to clean out the CO2 and getting a little O2 added each loop. However, due to the pressure at depth there is more air in the loop at depth than there is shallow (remember your open water physics). This means that even from a contained closed loop as you come shallower the air inside will expand and you will 'bleed' off the excess from the loop so that the volume remains fairly constant (I believe it can vary a little bit, but not that much.) However, using a rebreather means that you don't make the same breath exhalation bubbles that you normally do, because it all stays inside the loop.

Generally, there is more danger of silting/perculation from bubbles than there is of dislodging any rock formations. The water in caves helps to support the walls/ceiling and there is usually less danger of cave ins than dry caves.

Hopefully this guide was just telling ya'll about them and not taking you into them.

It's some tourist attraction up in TN.... i think they do give tours of it. No diving there as far as I know though. Recreational, that is.

They just carry you on a little boat that goes in a a circle the whole boat ride takes about 20 minutes. When i see water the first thing i think of is diving though...
