Hi I'm new to the site and soon to be a new diver. I'm off to do my OW course in the Prehentian Islands in a couple of weeks with Alu Alu Dive Club. My problem is that I can't find find there club listed on the PADI Dive Centre listings, I realise that they might be indivdual members with Instructor level certification like my old man used to have. I was wondering if any body has dived with or knows anything about them at all. Any info would be much appreciated.

From your message, I see that you will take your certification from a dive club, not dive center. Several of my friend also get their certification from a local dive club, and they got the cert from PADI, so I think it would be no problem, as long as there are a PADI-Certified Instructor who sign your certificate request form.

Are you sure you'll be taking a PADI class? There are many certification agencies.

AAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhh--A PADI POST------

No just kidding

You should be fine- PADI instructors do not have to teach out of a shop- they can be independent- Instructors

The only instructor at the resort Niall mentioned is a PADI instructor. That instructor will be able to get you a PADI certificate.

wow... imagine if PADI took over Leisurepro.com

there would never be another boring moment on here...

it boggles the mind

It seems there's alot anti PADI sentiment out there, have they lost it or is this site for divers who've been certified by a different organisation.

The anti-PADI sentiment is a vocal minority. As many people have said though, it's more important to find a good instructor than a good agency.

Just checked out their site, and their cert costs look really attractive : OW 750 RM (ringgit) which is $197us, or €160, last year i paid about €450 for OW here in Ireland, gone to about €550 now(that was a 5 week, 1 night/week and weekend open water)...and you get to dive tropical waters.....What have i been doing wrong ? ? lol
Out of curiosity, and slightly off topic, what have you paid for OW and AOW ?
