So let's see, will my Aluminum 80, with current hydro and vis, explode when shot at 200 yards with a 30 06?

What will happen?

Will someone get arrested?

Here's a better question, how far will the shrapnel fly if it does?

I shot a mayonaise jar at 100 yards with a 105gr round nose, soft tip .243 once. Had the messy stuff all over me.

I know shooting a full 12oz un-opened coke can with a high powered rifle makes it explode like a grenade. The pieces though didn't fall far from the original location of the can. Of course it is MUCH thinner than a scuba tank.

Are you using full-metal-jacket or soft-nose bullets to shoot the scuba tank with?

whalerkyle:
I am still not able to find fmj bullets here in cali, but I have 2 days left.

you will most likely need FMJ bullets for penetration. I think the soft nose ones will expand more upon impact and not penetrate as much if at all. Remember that they were never designed for shooting metal, but for hunting purposes.

They also bounce right back at you!

Who cares?

None of the rest of us plan to shoot our tanks.

You can't find anything more constructive to do with that 80 than shoot it?

The signal-to-noise ratio on this board is getting unbelievable.

It doesn't matter where its posted.

It's the bozonity of the topic itself.

'What will happen if I take a 3 lb sledgehammer to my mask faceplate?'

'What might the outcome be if I throw my jetfins on the campfire?'

'What do you suppose might occur if I put my BC in the microwave?'

This is relevant because...?
