Wide angle lenses

Folks,
I am about to plunge into the (compact) digital camera + housing world since the demise of my MX-10 and I have a question...
Do the add-on lenses work well with wider-angle (28mm say) underlying lenses?

Which add-on lenses? Inon has a special adapter (28AD mount base) and a new WA lens for the same adapter but only for same cases....

Honestly, I don't know - I'm spoiled for choice.
I am aware that a lot of wide-angle lenses have a smaller image circle than a longer focal-length lens and so I'd imagine compatibility would be an issue.
I guess I'll go for a housing that accepts wide-angle add-on lenses but get a camera that has a lens that starts fairly wide anyway...
