I was about to purchase the dome port and WCON-07c wide angle lens for my Olympus C-7070 with Ikelite housing when the guy from B&H tried to sell me on the Olympus PTWC-01 underwater conversion lens. As opposed to the WCON-07c (which is .7x magnification) and dome, the PTWC-01 (which is .6x magnification) is wet changeable and screws right on to the Ikelite housing. It just seemed easier to use than the dome with wide angle lens and wouldn't be susceptible to flooding. Does anyone know the pros and cons of using the Olympus PTWC-01 underwater wide angle conversion lens as opposed to the WCON-07c wide conversion lens with Ikelite dome? Thoughts appreciated.

You will get the best pictures with the WCON-07C and the Olympus dome. If you use the conversion lens, it will probably result in vignetting (black corners). To counteract that, you would need to zoom in.

One the other hand....with a wetmate lens you aren't locked in to only WA shots on that dive. And the vignetting is usually small and just a small bump in of the zoom is all that's needed.

Thanks so much for your input.

Now I'm thinking of getting the INON UWL-100. Does anyone know how much of an angle you can get underwater using the INON lens with the C-7070 (bumping the zoom to avoid the vignetting) as opposed to the WCON-07c and Ikelite dome?

I have a just bought the inon UWL-100 plus dome for my 7070 (with ike housing). Took it for a dive last weekend - I absolutely love the results! Opens up loads of new possibilities....half in/ half out shots, Close focus wide angle etc etc etc...
