Why many BCDs are so similar

Most dive equipment companies make some of the products they sell but not all of them. If it were not for Dutton Industries, we wouldn't be able to buy a BCD! They make almost all the BCDs on the market. Very few companies make regulators and there are two companies who make scuba tanks. P.

Only 2? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Luxfer, Catalina, Pressed Steel and Faber all make bottles?
