If I had local shore diving, it would be a different story, but I don't. I make about 30 to 40 domestic dives per year and now I'm wondering if it is cost effective to purchase tanks.

When I travel I rent tanks, but I keep two on hand for equipment testing.

One of my best investments (3 HP 120's), saves a return trip to the LDS (to return the rental tanks)for every dive trip. Even avoid the trip altogether on some boat trips, where you can bring an empty to start. At the price of an AL-80 you' d be break even at 40 dives or so.

I've got 18 tanks and plan to order yet another one.

And I even work at a shop, imagine what a freak I am.

I have 3 HP Steel 100's and 1 Hp 120. Very Convieniant with no returns of rentals. 4 Tanks is good for a 2 tank per day weekend. I guess I need to buy 2 more tanks for a long weekend.:D

I have six that we four divers share.

So far - two Alu 80s and an LP Steel 95. And I use all of them regularly. But then, I have Lake Ontario in my backyard, with abundant shore diving opportunities.

Not the first time I have thought that. ;)

Oh - 2 HP Steel 100's and 2 AL 80's
