Well that headline certainly sounds NSFW.
But it looks like something may have been chewing on it, so maybe that’s dead flesh?
 
Have seen similar regions on warty sea cucumbers here on Catalina. Some appeared to be areas torn by predators (crabs? sheephead? lobster?). I wondered whether others might be diseased tissue, possibly due to a species of Vibrio.
