which package Oceanic new or mares used

I am looking at getting my first package. I have 45 dives and am done renting. Most of my diving is going to be in a fresh water, with a one or two salt water dives per year.

I have spent hours reviewing the discussion boards and need some more input:

Package one:
Used - 2 years old used 5 times in fresh water
Mares MR-12T w/ Regulator Rover regulator, Mares Rover Secondary, Suunto SM36, Pressure Gage, Suunto Compass, Suunto Geeko Dive Computer
$450 + service on regulator $120 + still need BCD

Package Two:
New Oceanic
OceanPro QLR BC, Veo 1.0 Air/Nitrox Dive Computer, GT3 Adjustable Regulator, Alpha 8 Octopus
$800

What are the thoughts on pros and cons of each package or recommendations?

The dive center in your area what equipment do they service?

They service both Oceanic and Mares.

Will you be diving locally, in cold water?

Yes I will be doing some local diving but nothing really cold as I am not planning on getting a dry suit for a while. The local quarry has been as cold as low 50's. May do some great lakes diving eventually which goes down to 40's.

Too much for the mares kit. You can get a similar kit for $600 ish brand new
