Got an ear infection, I got the drops from a pharmacy that was open late but I want to visit a doctor to make sure it is just the simple outer ear infection. Any suggestions on who to go to?

Another recommendation for Dr Piccolo. He is a wonderful doctor. He took great care of me when I was hospitalized for Hemorragic Dengue. My local friends are his patients.

I use Dr. Piccolo. He has treated me for two things so far this winter. None were ear problems but he has dealt with those in the past as well. For one of them he referred me to an ENT specialist who visits his clinic about once a week, I think. (It happened to be a day that the specialist was in)

I recommend Dr. Dario Gomez at Costamed a/k/a CMC - he also speaks perfect English, is the official DAN Dr. on the island and the full service clinic and hospital is a US accredited.

Dr. Piccolo is also very good, but Dr. Gomez has been my preferred choice for the past 5 - 6 years.

Finally back home at my hotel, had to escort a pair of girls to CUN, it was a long trip back and forth.

Anyways I went to the Clinico San Miguel early this morning (like 8am), Dr Piccolo wasn't in so he called Dr Arroyo, she seemed to know her stuff but she didn't want to really spend the time to clear the wax blockage and actually had it worse because it was half finished and now full blocked. Thankfully I travel with wax removal kit, so I was able to get it drain well enough to last me until I get home.

So mixed, I know it is a simple outer ear infection which is good, but I need to go to my normal doctor to get my ears fully cleared out since she didn't seem to want to finish the job.

Sorry to hear your issue was not resolved and is now worse. Not sure when you're leaving, but you could still go to Costamed. The number is 987-872-9400

One reason I decided to make the switch to Costamed several years ago. They have a full team of general practitioners and specialists and full service facilities ALWAYS with a team of English speaking staff and all physicians speak English as well 24/7 so they are well equipped to serve tourists as well. They are also the only USA accredited hospital on the island.

I have had 2 major surgeries and a separate hospitalization for illness there and hands down it' as good or better than any private US hospital I've had experience with.

I hope you are better soon.

Not to worry I got it cleared up enough to be able to fly home on Thursday and see my local doc on Friday. I'm more annoyed at missing the cenote dives today, I was really looking forward to those.

Yeah, you have to phone him first and not just show up at his clinic, as he isn't there 24/7. He answers his own phone and will tell you when to meet him at the clinic. Too late now for you, but something for readers to consider in future should they need care.
