Not brand-wise, speed-wise. There's 2MB cards at $20 and $120. What's the difference (to an A650) and what's appropriate?

Again, I've used a whole range of cards and it really doesn't seem to make any difference what rating they are.

You may find it is slower in your card reader to computer, but I've never noticed.

I'd get the $20 one probably! :)

The main difference is when you shoot in continuous mode. All cards are fine for video, and while in theory faster cards are faster when downloading to your computer, I've never really noticed that much difference.

There is, however, a marked difference when shooting in continuous mode. With standard speed cards I could only get about a second of shooting before the write speed to the card would slow down. With faster cards, it seemed like I could shoot continuously forever. FWIW, my comparison reference was a standard Sandisk vs. Sandisk Ultra II; I wouldn't pay extra for a Sandisk Extreme III.

So depending on what you shoot, even doing continuous mode might not be necessary, in which case getting more storage for a good price is best. When we were on safari, we wanted it when shooting animals feeding/fighting - but when we photographed ruins, we didn't need it (the ruins weren't really moving around much ;-)

As Alcina suggested, find a good deal - just beware that eBay has a lot of fakes for sale, so buy from a reputable seller...

Cheers!
Bryan
