Hey

We have decided to go to Cozumel and PdC for a split holiday, and we are now looking lodging options in Cozumel.

We appreciate:
- Quiet sleeping
- Good restaurants (walking distance would be great!)
- Local and personal experience (no big hotels)
- Breakfast would be REALLY nice addition to the place
- Not too highly priced (50€ish would be the maximum), although if a perfect place is found, we could go higher.
- Closeby shops or 7/11 or similar.

We hate:
- Clubbing and loud music at night, places near these places are absolute no
- Huge crowds - we are finns and we love our personal space :D

Neutral:
- Pets (we like animals really much, but not a deciding factor. A dog, cat or pet is a nice plus)
- Children etc. noise makers as long as they dont bother our sleep. :)

We are mostly diving, most probably with 3P. We have reserved time in PdC for the Cenotes and other activities.

An ideal place would be:
- Quiet (and I REALLY mean quiet) place for sleeping
- Within walking distance from restaurants
- Serves breakfast before we leave to boat with 3P
- Nice host
- At least one shop nearby (No need to be that big)

Any recommendations?

Hotel Plaza Cozumel fits the bill- others on occasion have expressed concern over noise from certain rooms (Tripadvisor), but it has never been an issue for me and you can certainly let them know how important that is to you and get a room to compensate. I will be there next month for the 3rd time and am paying $500 USD all in (taxes...etc) for 9 nights. Super clean and large rooms. Right downtown. Very local. Nothing fancy-- just super good value. One block from the PDC ferry. 2.5 blocks from the Aldora pier where Aldora, Blue XT Sea and some others also depart from. Free breakfast every morning included and it rivals Casa Mexicana's raved about buffet breakfast. Restaurants everywhere you walk. Nice enjoyable rooftop swimming pool with Ocean/Sunset views. You have many dive op options in the neighborhood-- Aldora, Blue Magic, Blue XT Sea... Good mix of local mexican tourists from the mainland and long time Coz divers in the know. I better shut up now-- giving away one of the better kept secrets on the island. Here is the link to their website. I have booked with confidence over their website and settle up on arrival or checkout. If you request a fridge upon arrival, it will be delivered to the room- if you value that.-- Hotel Plaza Cozumel - Cozumel - Mexico
Another option that gets strong reviews and still in the same vicinity is Tamarindo B&B. Although I have seen their user reviews slip somewhat recently-- Tamarindo Cozumel | Bed and Breakfast, Apartments & Bungalows

We stay at Casa Mexicana. I'm a very light sleeper usually and have only been woken up once in 8 trips by someone drunk in the hall. The breakfast buffet is great. Lots of very good to incredible food within walking distance. I have had 5 knee surgeries, so walking distance to me means a couple of blocks. Take a cab to La Perlita for lionfish and lobster while you are there.

We dive Aldora and their shop is just around the corner and their pick up dock is about a half a block away.

For extremely quiet, Aldora Villa was great, but not within my walking distance to town comfortably. They do have free bikes, but not my thing. It's on the water North of town. Very very quiet. They will give you a ride to Mega (huge grocery store) to load up on food and drinks when you get there.

Great dive shops are within walking distance from Casa Mexicana including Aldora, Tres Pelicanos, Blue Magic ( a bit of a walk...but I can do it) and I believe Blue XTSea picks up at their dock....not sure where the shop is but I'm Sure Christi will work with you if you have any special needs or requests.

Good luck, safe travels. Where ever you end up, get ready for some great diving.

Jay

Have you seen Villa Escondida Bed and Breakfast. I am planning to go to Cozumel too and this place seems really very well rated by scubaboard members.

Depending on the number going Villa Escondida meets all your points including an adorable dachshund pup named Millie but called Monkey by her friends. And its about 3 blocks to 3Ps.
