My husband, the Little Brown Monkey, bought me a Halcyon Pioneer 27 without me asking him to do so... so now I am in the stage of learning to deal with it...and learning to dive in it...sigh

My question is... is it better to put my weights on the top tank band or the lower tank band or should i just put them on the waist band closest to the back plate? I only use about 3-4 pounds of weights and dive with a 3mm full suit in southeast asia.

If the weights are on the top tank band, will it push me down too forward/horizontal? I dont want to be too horizontal since I like looking up and watch for mantas or whalesharks swim by. :)

BTW, we are not DIR with our configuration.

P.S.

I'm also quite upset because my barely 5 month old BCD has a tiny pinhole puncture and i dont know how it got there. But that's for another thread.

Start on the waistband and work up until you find a comfortable position.
If you have an aluminum plate, try a stainless and you might be able to eliminate the separate weight.
The rig should not FORCE you into a horizontal position.

Thanks for the advice RichLockyer. I do have an aluminum plate, we didnt get the stainless steel because we couldnt afford getting charged for excess baggage weight everytime we flew :)

I did try the weights on the wasitband before, so now I'll move them on to the upper tank straps and see what happens.
