I've never been to Tahiti, but from what I've heard and read yes the diving's better. I've been to Fiji twice and will be returning again in March/April 2006 time frame.

PNG!?
wow! now that's an idea! where is that?!?!?! how far from LA??

thanks, fellas....

ps> does anything compare to cozumel....re: diving, topside, food, cost???

Hi Deputy,

Depends on the budget and what you want to see. I can't comment on PNG as I haven't been there but I know people who go year after year. Live aboard is the best way to go. I looked into this but the flight cost a small fortune. If you don't mind a long haul head to Indonesia......

I've got a couple of trip reports if your interested. I'll be in Manado in April if you want to join me !!

Week in Palau on the Aggressor.
Then follow that up with 5 or 6 days here in Yap.
Or vice versa

Having worked in both Tahiti and Fiji...both on Aggressor i can give a run down for you. All depends on what you want. Big stuff?-Tahiti (Tuamotus), colours and macro? Fiji

Did you dive in the Societies or Tuamotus?

Tuamotus a lot more action than Fiji, lots more sharks, rays, big schools of fish, dolphins, clear water etc With great hard coral.

Fiji, much better soft coral (Tuamotus have none!), larger variety of organisms, great macro. A few sharks and rays but not that common. Unless of course you go to the Bull Shark rodeo roundup, best shark dive on the planet, bar none!

You could also go to Cocos or Galapagos...I'm not helping am i?

Just re read your post...Societies.

You could always go to Tahiti Aggressor. Easy flight for you
