Was looking into buying a digital camera and was interested in a couple of cameras. Was looking at the Olympus C3040, 4040, or the 4000. I know I can buy a C4000 at stores but have not seen the C3040 or the C4040 (discontinued). Was wondering if you guys know where to get the 3040 or the 4040. Would like to buy the 4040. I heard the 4040 lens works a little better than the 4000 with less light. Not to comfortable with the internet stores and service. Was also looking for a underwater case and I have been reading about Underwater Digital with Allen from the board. Would probably get the case thru them. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks-Walt

You only option is your local stores. Check all the photo stores, electronic chains, such as Circuit City, Best Buy and CompUSA. I have a friend you got a C-4040 at Walmart! But this was before they were discontinued. However, there are still some out there on store shelves.

I can vouch for Allan at Underwater Digital, he's very good to do business with.

Iknow you weren't looking to buy on the internet, but if you go to pricetool.com they have several different vendors including the stores like BestBuy and such. I just bought a c-3020 at bestdiscocam.com. I called them first to see about there operation. It was only 285 new instead of the mid threes at most other places. The Olympus PT010 or PT005 fits that camera and I have heard pretty good things about it. Sorry that I don't know how to make these internet sites where you just click on them. Anyway hope this helps.

The camera at bestdiscocam.com is not available unless you purchase an extended warranty (what a jip). Sorry for the bad website info, however there are some very good deals with some of the companies at pricetool. Don't try Barnabeez.com because they are the same company as bestdiscocam.com. The camera itself is supposed to very good. I have heard good things with all the Olypmus c20xx-c30xx-40xx lines. Have fun shopping!

Guys THANKS for all the information. I broke down today and went to Sound Advice and bought the C4040Z for $600.00. A little high in the price range, but I guess you only go around once and I know what I was getting. I am going to call Underwater Digital in the morning to get a case sent out to me. Going to Ginnie Springs in Gainesville Florida this weekend and off to the Keys on Thanksgiving. I will try and post some great pictures for your guys. Thanks again, and your board is a big help with my scuba questions.
