The inflator on my Explorer is crapping out on me (leaks tiny bubbles) and I want a new one.

I can't find any on the typical sites. DRE has them for $40 but that seems a little extravagant to me.

Zeagle offers one....... Try Scubatoys.

The one at DRE may cost more because it is better than average. I was told that DR's is a top of the line Sherwood. Of course whether "top-of-the-line" translates into improved performance is another matter.

Spend twice that and get a Scubapro Balanced inflator. They last forever.

Before anybody jumps on me, the Oceanic wont fit his wing.

5thd-x.com sells the same inflator as DRE but for $35.
Note that it isn't a "sherwood inflator", to my knowledge. It looks exactly the same as the Halcyon SS, but it's plastic.

They show up on ebay fairly often. One just when for $28. I replaced my DR inflator with the SP inflator because I prefered the buttons on the SP model.

pros

Balanced so it isn't going to auto inflate your bladder if you have a HP seat failure
Easy to service, but never seems to need it
Standard size

Cons

expensive
some feel it has too high a flow, i feel it is easy to control
Scubapro makes it....;)

That's what I switched to after having an auto inflate issue and I love it! I'm not to sure why people complain about the high flow part since it doesn't seem to be much different than my old Halcyon inflator.

Where is it bubbling from? Mine was doing the same thing from the seat of the fitting where the LP hose connects. I unscrewed the fitting, cleaned it and replaced the o-ring and put it back together and no more bubbles.
This is the replacement inflator for the recalled SS inflator. I still take it apart every few months (dive regualrly in salt water) and clean and re-lube the parts and it hasn't given me any problems aside form the bad o-ring.
Still, you may be better off with a, shall we say, less 'tempermental' inflator.:D
