I’m curious about where other divers wear / carry their compass. I’d like to hear some of the advantages and disadvantages of a console mounted compass, and/or a compass worn on the wrist. I looking at purchasing my own gear soon and would like to have a better idea of what I may want before making any purchases.

Thanks !
Dean

I like the wrist position better than the console, just seems easier. Computer/bottom timer on the right wrist and the compass on left, both Suunto.

Try this thread as well, a bunch of replies: http://69.93.91.170/t47356.html

I have a feeling this thread may be moved there to join it in the computers and guages forum.

Mine is on a retractor off my left waist d-ring.

I carry a small Silva hikers compass in my BC pocket. It is liquid filled and is not affected by pressure, I have had it as deep as 150 fsw. It is one less peice of equiptment strapped on your arm and eliminates another on the console. Best of all it is less than $10 at Wal-Mart.

I shall refer you to this thread:

Incindentally, I like wearing my compass on the left wrist, easier to navigate with the side window, and no console/retractor setup.
You cheeky ....... stealing my idea and claiming it as your own!!! ;) I guess those who posted there would know it is there though and lead those towards that info.

put the good one in your pocket, and get one of those little mini ones and mount it on your watch/computer strap.
