I did not know that. I'll be careful next time I order some to make sure I order the right metal. Thanks.

Well,

It's a good thing they put me in an office....most safety wire (today) is indeed stainless steel; sorry about that.

Don't be sorry. I was being honest with my statement. Did not know there was copper or breakaway safety wire. And I actually have a need for it.

I'd say if the office is air conditioned, put me in one too. :d

For that application you can also use SS welding rod from a welding supply store.

I didn't even think of that.

Web,

Yes, the break away safety wire is used in applications not just to hold something in place like regular safety wire. It is used mainly to prevent accidental activation of a switch that one would use in an emergency. Therefore, it is breakable. This also lets the maintenance crew know that the switch was activated. (or some fumble fingered aircrew member tampered with it)

Bicycle spokes. 14 or 15 gauge. Less than a dollar. The longest are about 12 inches.

That's a good one.

That's a good one.
You might also find them in other gauges: 16 and 17 are less common but they are made for super lightweight wheels.
