Yes. I bounce back and forth between DPP, and Photoshop all the time. They both have their own "personalities", if you will. Not sure if it needs a mention, but I ALWAYS shoot RAW + JPEG. All edits are done to the RAW files, then converted. The JPEG off of the camera is just for a quick reference/back-up.

Sometimes DPP renders a better (or quicker) result, and other times Photoshop will "nail it" as it should be nailed. I like DPP for a quick WB or color adjustment for shots that aren't so much "money shots", but more "vacation memory" shots. DPP is great on the plane ride home from a dive vacation, (assuming you brought your laptop), just to do some quick edits before you get home :) If the picture I'm editing happens to be "the money shot of a lifetime", I will use Photoshop.

I get everything I need to get done (WB, color correction, sharpen, etc) with Elements. I will add (confess) I'm a bit of a purist (old fashion) when it comes to photography. I like "getting the shot" as a photographer, and not so much as a "graphics artist", and get the shot right, from the beginning. If I need to apply a slight tweak here or there, ( i.e. digital darkroom techniques), I'm okay with that. I have friends that take some nice photos, and then go crazy with HDR or or other "creative uses" of technology, and for me it just kills it. HDR can do some amazing things artistically, but when I see it used, I notice it (HDR) before I notice the picture or the story that's being told. I've always taken more of a "photo-journalistic" approach, BUT, that's just me and what makes me happy. I suppose at the end of the day, it's all in the "eye of the beholder".

With all of that said, sorry, didn't mean to go way off there. It's a quiet in my office today ;) To answer your question, Elements gives me most everything I need.

thanks again...I've used Elements 5.0 AFTER editing thru Pacasa 3 for the last almost 4 years....& now notice 7.0 is out...

Just getting a new Canon & don't remember there being a Canon editing site when I bought my 570 (4- years ago)....Wanted to start out on 'the right' foot on this one & was wonderin' if the Canon site was any better than what I'm currently using---will play with it a while & then decide...thanks...
