I've had velcro last 7 or 8 yrs. on BC's then I just sew a new piece on when it needs to be replaced It's 1 dollar a foot at the fabric store.
It works well in Kentucky...But I'm sure velcro will get Blasted to pieces in this place.

alternatively you could use a loop of bungee cord. don't lose sleep over it. the scuba industry usually tests novelties in kentucky and apparently most divers survived the introduction of velcro.![]()
