What's up with the PM counter?

Just curious... my PM counter reads 65,534 unread PMs... So, either it's broken, or I just got REALLY popular!!! LOL I tend to believe it's broken.

Actually, my head is quite perfectly sized... not to big, and not too small... and sits firmly atop my shoulders!
