Does anyone know if Island Photo is currently renting equipment or not? Their website looks like it hasn't been updated since November. We'll be down Feb 15-20 and were thinking of renting a video rig instead of bringing ours. If not Island Photo, does anyone know of another rental source?

As of the second week in January, Armando was on the island renting gear by delivering it to hotels, and Holly was in Colorado. The shop was set to be open in a couple of weeks at that time.

If you PM Photocoz, that's Holly.

Armando is working his tail off making sure people get their equipment (and if you're shooting film also getting it developed) without the shop being opened. Last I heard from Holly a couple weeks ago, still awhile before the shop opens, but they're making sure their customers are getting taken care of.

Give them an email - I'm sure they can get you taken care of!

Holly and Armando are great folks. I am sure hes doing his level best to handle customers

Holly's last report said he was developing film in there kitchen...necessity, the mother of invention! The worth ethic of these two is just amazing, wonderful people and 110% satisfaction in service!! Plus Holly's warm, friendly smile, what a deal!!

Hopefully the El Cid contractors are getting close to finishing up above the store so they can re-open soon.

Thanks everyone. I will email today.

I haven't seen Holly on the board since early January but I did email the address on their website, photocozumel@ecozumel.net Does anyone know if this a current email address?

Yup, that's her email :)

I don't know what 's going on with Holly and Armando. We have emailed them a couple of times, and I have PM'ed Holly and called her cell phone (got voicemail) twice, and no response to any of it. I hope they are OK.

They were majorly affected by both the hurricane and the reconstruction work around La Ceiba afterwards (the crews had piles of debris and lumber, etc. pushed right up against the front door of their shop for months, and the phone company kept charging for their phone service although there was none, and the rent was still due even though they couldn't use the building). Holly had to come back to the States and take a job here.

Like I said, I hope they are OK.

I got a reply to my email from Holly. We're all set. Thanks everyone for the info.
