I'm a Fish!
I bought a Nikonos V a couple years ago, and it came with a small Ikelite substrobe and 35 mm lens. The guy I bought it from did mainly shallow water macro stuff, and it worked for fine for that purpose.

I want to get a 15 mm lens and do deeper water wreck shots and stuff like that. When I've taken it on the Duane and the Grove with the current lens and strobe, the pictures have been very inadequate. I know the 15 mm lens will help, but what's the best strobe for what I'd like to do.

I use a ike 150 strobe but any strobe with a wide angloe of coverage with(preferred)ttl abilities will do..perhaps look into an ike 125,can be used with nik 5 and when you go digital you are hooked up..

I've been doing a little browsing on Ebay, and it looks like I can get an Nikonos SB-105 for considerable less that either the Ike 125 or the YS120.

Will the SB105 work OK for what I'm wanting to do? What would be the advantages of going with one of the others mentioned?

will work with nikonos 5 but in future when you go digital it most likely will not so it will cost you more in long run..

DBH:look at my gallery-photos taken with either a nik 5 w/15mm lens ike 150 strobe or a oly5050 ike housing wa lens w/125 strobe..can be done 1 strobe easily..can eliminate some shadows with dual strobe but adds up compexity to situation..

The SB-105 should work fine with the 15mm Nikonos provided you also use the wide flash diffuser. With any strobe your lighting will be limited to near subjects on deep wrecks like the SG or the Duane. I have seen some very cool shots of the crows nest on the Duane taken at mid-day with the sun in the background!
