I'm considering getting a bp/wings setup, and need some help with the right size of wing.
I intend to dive singule tank, mostly al80 or lightwhight steel. water here tend to be rather worm, so I dive 1mm in summer and up to 5-6 mm one-piece in winter (size L). With the al80 I need about 4# weight total durring summer and about 14# in winter.
I'm abvioslay thinking about getting a light BP, probably aluminum. I may also need a STA.
What I don't know is what size wing I need, and I would like to get one that is as small as posible. My calculations say that 20 should be OK (not that you can get such wings), and that 25 and above is a safe bet. does this sound reasonable, or did I get it all wrong?

And if I ever move to doubles, what would work right there? would I need more then about 5# extra (to compansate for more air used), or would I need to add extra for safty or other factors?

I'd go with the 27 Pioneer or the 30 pound Oxycheq, which is actually quite a bit cheaper right now.

You don't want a singles wing for doubles. You'll want to get another wing.

You'll have to factor in the cost of a STA with the Oxycheq wing, whereas with the Pioneer 27 you can definitely get away without using a STA.

A Halcyon Pioneer 27lbs wing should be fine. (This is what I use when I do single tanks.)

As for doubles, a 55lbs Halcyon Exploror wing would be good for steel doubles.

The 27 should serve you well with a single.

I use an Explorer 45 with my AL 80 doubles and steel 72 doubles. If I was buying a wing for those doubles today, it would be a 40.

If I ever go for bigger doubles, I'll see if the 45 can handle them with a flooded drysuit. I suspect not, but would sure like to be surprised.

Tank material is not an issue when selecting the amount of lift you are going to wear. Tank capacity certainly is, as is neoprene compression.

Good luck.
