Hi all looking at getting a new torch i have 150 GPB to spend would like an umbilical? been told this is the way to go. I have also been told that bright is not always best here in England due to merky waters and that the HID torches are about 100 GBP for a bulb.
Any help

Cheers
 :hmmm:

Got to agree w/ bengiddins. If you've got the money to spend, go HID. IMHO, it will be the light of the future-available now!

I'm building a 10W HID now because I've seen the difference. There's nothing even remotely close to the light that it puts out (except for the 18W HID!!).

And when your buddies halogen starts to dim, you'll have twice the time left on yours.

Hi have looked around and the torch is going at about 189.0 GBP or 250 GBP if you want a rechargable one. Any one know of a cheaper place.

Cheers

I have a Mares Phos

Used it in Eygpt and TCI and it is superb. Another diver on my trip was using a £250 Kowalski and the Mares performed as well if not better. Put it on your list to check out.

6v Xenon bulb gives 500 lumen white light (UK Light Cannon 450)

The trade off is that the light canon is rated to 250m but the Phos to 100m

NiMH batteries rechargeable in 5 hours give 1 hour constant light burn time.

Bought in UK for £130 at last dive show.

Honkeye,

Here ya go: http://www.leisure-pro.com/

The UK Light Cannon USD$154.95

That should be around 106 pounds or so, not including shipping.

Make sure you can charge the unit on your power grid.

You'll love it!

You can get the Light Cannon with a pistol grip or a lantern grip too.

Detroit Diver,
"I wonder how much deeper the Ocean would be without sponges"

At high tide or low tide?

Tavi,

Or you could ask-"In tide or out tide?" !!
