We have a week that we won staying on the east end of GC at Morritt's. It will be me and my wife and another couple. It is not going to be primarily a dive vacation :depressed: but I plan on diving a couple of days with Ocean Frontiers since it is difficult for me to not dive my air and computer. My wife is a diver and will dive one day but the other couple are not divers.

So, since we will have a lot of time spent not diving, what would be some good ideas for things to do other than drink? We have that covered:beerchug:

Pick up a copy of the "Cayman Activity Guide" at the airport when you arrive ,there are discount coupons for lots of things. You can also go online to their site and see what they have to offer before you arrive. This will give you a good idea of what is available .....there are way too many attractions to list here .

Since you're staying at Morritt's you'll be about as far away from town as you can get driving wise. Things to do that aren't a 45 minute drive include The Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, Rum Point, the Blow Holes and Starfish Point. Morritt's shares a decent beach with the Reef Resort, has good snorkeling with lots of fish under the dock and has jet skis, wind surfers, etc. for rent. Another place to check out for information is Morritts Tortuga and Grand Resorts Forum.

My wife and I will be at Morritt's 8/27 through 9/3 as well. What's the difference between the two dive outfits Of vs. Tortuga ? We have our own stuff, including integrated computers.

Tortuga is geared more toward less experienced divers than OF. OF will rinse and store your gear for you if you're diving with them more than one day, Tortuga doesn't have the facilities for that. OF is a 5-10 minute drive from Morritt's, Tortuga leaves from the dock at Morritt's. There are several threads here on the subject and, I'm sure, you'll get lots of feedback beyond what I just wrote.

Have fun.

My advice would be to plan excursion days since you're so far from everything. If you want to do some diving elsewhere, Sunset House offers great shore diving, so does Eden Rock, DiveTech at Lighthouse Point, Sunset Divers at Turtle Reef and DiveTech at Cobalt Coast. Might be worth taking one or two days to check out some of those dive ops and let you see other parts of the island.

Botanical park is pretty cool, but the experience can depend on the time of the year and what is in bloom. Another area that is pretty close to you is Rum Point. Decent beach, some snorkeling and swimming opportunity, or just lay around in a hammock with a cool beverage. Also a couple of decent restaurants there as well.

Some other stuff/sightseeing in the general East End area would be:

The aforementioned Rum Point for a beach day (avoid heavy cruise ship days and Sundays) and Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Gardens and Blue Iguana Sanctuary, a hike along the Mastic Trail, hunt for Cushion Stars at Starfish Beach (also a great place to watch the sunset which is not visible from Morritts/The Reef Resort), Tuesday night BBQ and band at Kaibo, have a drink with the locals at Over the Edge (great fresh fish, sometime friendly service), hit the nearby snorkeling spots (see signature), day trip to Seven Mile Beach - stopping at Smith Cove Bacadere and Cemetery Beach.

Be careful of using CAG when making decisions on what to do as they only hype the attractions/restaurants, etc that pay to be in their guide. They are in no way, shape or form objective when it comes to educating visitors.

You are way better off gathering advise from posters on this site who have no financial interest in your decisions.
