My 13 year old son, who has been diving with me for a while, is interested in getting into underwater photography. He says "he wants to show all of his friends that dont dive what he gets to see under the water". He has some money saved and is interested in buying a used camera set up. What should we be looking for? He has looked at some of the Canon housings but isnt dead set on them. Thats just what we see the most of on trips. Should he keep it simple with no stobe? I dont want him to grow out of it to quickly but I also dont want it to be to complex either. He/we would like to keep it under $400 for a used set up which I know isnt much but can he get started with this? Any input or sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

$400 is more than adequate for a used camera and housing. He should be able to pick up a good condition S90 and a WP-DC35 housing on ebay for $400 fairly easily. And with the S90 he can start in easy mode and move into more difficult setting modes as he grows into it. Save the strobe until grows a bit as it can add a whole nother level of complexity and increases the potential of him becoming a danger to himself and the reef.
