I have a set of Luxfer aluminum 80s with an original hydro date from 1990. They are marked S80.

I did a search in the internet. Most of the specs I get back for Luxfer S80s say that the tanks are 8" diameter and 23" length. I took a tape measure to my tanks and found them to be 7" and some change diameter and about 26" in length. These measurements seem to match the Luxfer S080 specs.

Anybody have any insight?

Neutrally buoyant 80s?

Should also say DOT 3AL3000 a bit earlier in the codes. A 1990 S80 is essentially the same as today's S080s. They added the third digit to the codes when they started making 100s a few years ago.

The neutrally bouyant AL80s ("S80N") are a modern development, they are 3300 psi tanks too. An "S808" is an 8" AL80, rare, never seen one. Don't think they made them in 1990.

Its hard to compare an old tank to the modern spec sheets sometimes. Its esp. difficult for 72s.
