not sure, but it may be a Foamus insulationis or perhaps
related to that species... you're lucky to escape alive,
those things are blood-thirsty

I shot this today at the quarry. What rare form of marine life is this?

Holy smokes!

Thats the dreaded sleeping split hose fish.

Those things can kill you if you accidentally step on them

It does look pretty scary. Good thing you lived to let us see the wonderful picture. Thank you. These types of rare underwater creatures always keep me in awe. I have never dove in a quarry and was wondering what I might encounter.

Aren’t the wonders of nature just endless? Just when you think you have seen it all - green algae, brown algae and greenish brown algae, something marvellous like this comes along to inspire us all....

its a damn good thing you snuck up on it well it was sleeping or else you would have been done for if you go back to see it again and it hasnt moved dont disturb it its probably hybernating

Don't worry..next week, I'm gonna go back and look for it. this creature has been known to frequent the same spot. I'm gonna sneak up on it and get a shot of its belly...just you wait.
