Thanks, I had no idea what it was, neither did anyone I showed it to, leave it to Scubaboard to get the answer:)
 
I was in the same boat over 25 years ago when I first encountered them in the Florida Keys. I searched for their idenity for about three years before I found them. If you touch them (gasp), they will retract into the reef.
 
They were all over Bonaire, too.
