Wood sourcing will not be the problem for "Calypso" and the original build time for these vessels was under a year, in fact the rebuild is stretching out so long that it may have been easier to start again from scratch. When they stripped the hull the “Calypso” we knew was thrown away, so they are building an externally visual replica with a different interior. Some Italian guy is supervising the redesign, but to rebuild all they had to do was follow the original plans and the modifications made by Cousteau to make it an expedition ship.

With the possible complete rebuild of Calypso, I’m happy to have a little piece of the original ship.
