Awhile back I posted about my friend Skye who beat the odds and survived cancer. I wrote about the firefighters from station 3 who went to her hospital room and did a dance for her.

Well, Jeff was the firefighter I actually contacted to ask for the favor (he got to pick the ice cream flavor :D). Anyhow, a couple weeks ago Jeff was burned fighting a house fire. He's been in the hospital for treatment and skin grafts.

So - I called Skye and told her of Jeff's predicament. Skye disguised herself as a bag lady and went for a visit (see pics). I visited Jeff again yesterday and asked him if he'd been visited by a bag lady. He got all excited and said it's been driving him nuts 'cause he knew he should know this woman but couldn't figure out who it was.

After getting permission from Skye, I told him who it was - he was pretty blown away and was thrilled that she had done what she did. Skye was thrilled to have done it as well :D

Jeff got to go home today and is glad to be back with his family, though he's still pretty much laid up in bed.

Too funny! Very clever.. must have been tough for Skye not to reveal her identity during the visit.. Great story. Best wishes to your Bud for a speedy recovery.

LOL - yep, she said she almost broke down and told him a couple of times. She held up though - she even did a southern accent. Part of her costume was a blanket around her hips to make her look heavy and car wash sponges to make a big saggy chest :D As you can see in the pics, she did a pretty goo hunch-back as well.

Very cool. Those two are blessed to have a friend like you!

Update on Jeff the firefighter. I saw him on Friday - after 5 months, he's back to work on light duty. One of the skin grafts (on his knee) is still very thin, so he can't crawl around inside of burning buildings just yet, but he was very upbeat about at least being back on some sort of job.

I also talked to Skye tonight and gave her an update on Jeff's progress - she mentioned she still watches the video mentioned in the linked post :D
