Question What egg case is this?

This was taken in Cozumel last week. Depth is about 30-40 feet fsw and is probably about 2-3 feet long maybe longer. We have no reference in the photo just remember it was long and substantial diameter. We believe it is an egg case and the white dots we think are individual eggs. What is it/What laid it?

Given the size, it is likely a pelagic tunicate, a colonial salp, a Pyrosome, not an egg case.

Ok. I have seen tunicates before but never with all the white dots/spots. The size is throwing us on the egg case though. We assumed eggs but tunicate seems right as you say.

Saw similar once here before in waters off Grand Cayman, it was identified at that time as a Diamond Squid Egg mass and not a Pyrosome.
