What do you think about Nikon 7900 for underwater?

I currently have a Nikon 7900 that I love to use on land. Nikon no longer makes the housing for this camera but Ikelite and Fantasea carries a compatible housing. My question is how well this camera will take pictures underwater. I'm a recreational diver and I want something that is point and shoot. Any experience with using this camera? Also, do I need the strobe, etc for this camera?
