Wondering if there is a good recommendation for a dive logbook. Also, has anyone used a logbook/planner in a Pocket PC device?

I use a Suunto computer, and download the profiles after each dive day....

If you don't have a computer, you could still use the free software to make a record.

Or, you could create a log using virtually any spreadsheet software.

Good luck!

I also use SUUNTO Cobra and down load the dives. I then print them out, fold in half (format is perfect for this) and then 3 hole punch it and place into my log book. Format is nice and neat, the top and bottom of the page are in the binder with the fold as the page edge.

I don't use a commercially sold logbook. I do have software for my computer should I choose to download the data from the dive. Keeping the data only in the software is a mistake in my mnd since I've been hit with a virus more than once and lost what was on my harddrive. So now, the download software is just a tool for profile purposes should I want to see them. I don't bother downloading data on quarry putz dives, but I do download profiles on technical dives & instructional dives.

I also don't want a bazillion books lying around to keep track of.....PITA and clutter. I bought a Trapper Keeper Zipper type binder during Back to School years ago and keep my diving info there. I've looked at different commercial log book features and pulled out what criteria I've found useful and made my own log pages on the Excel Spreadsheet program. I currently get 6 dives to an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper, (3 front, 3 back). If I've downloaded the profile, I can punch and insert it next to the corresponding logbook page. I also keep my pertinent c-cards, passport, dive tables, site maps, etc. in that same Trapper.

I've got a biggie 4 inch binder that I transfer the sheets to when my Trapper gets to tight. There I also keep class rosters & pro related stuff.

I also downloaded for giggles the PADI software for tables and logbook for my Palm. No thanks, way to big and SLOOOWWW. Gimme paper for archival purposes. Deleted it.

I have a nice collection of them after 13 years of diving.

I use a pad of paper and write down the data you would normally write down in a pre-made log book.

Cheap and efficient.

I use a homemade log page that when in my binder is on the back of a sheet of paper. I fill in the info on that page while on the dive site, then download my Vyper and print the computer generated log page (filled in as well) on the front of the page. That way I have my original notes in my handwriting as well as the computer generated goodies on the same piece of paper.

I use the official SSI log so my student see me logging. It is easiy to help them log if we have the same pages.
I also download my Uwatec Smart com and fill them in on my laptop.
I also log them on the Rodales site.
Could be too much freetime!
