I was looking at a Ocean Reef Neptune Space Full Face Mask it went for 405.00 new on E-bay. I looked other places for a price and the lowest I've found was 579.00. I was just wondering what are the pros and cons of such a mask?

With 25-49 dives, which is in your profile, I'd say forget it.

Lots of information in this post! I'm a noobie too, and have wondered the same thing. Perhaps instead for being short, you could provide some specific reasons why? Have you used a full face mask before Gary D. What did you like about it? Why is it only for fish people? Any helpful information would be nice.

Cheers,
Doug

This thread might help you both:
http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/ne...g/262446-divator-mk-ii-air-diving-system.html. Only a few posts but they seem to cover a few of the issues of FFMs for inexperienced divers.

I am sure there are heaps of other threads as well. Try googling the pros and cons of full face masks, lot of helpful information out there :)

i know nothing about them, but a search for "ffm*" turned up some threads. you need the wildcard for searches of less than 4 letters.

and, yes, i bet gary dives them pretty much every day. they're pretty popular with public safety divers.

the main things i've heard about them is that they are really large volume, gas switches aren't possible, and the communication part is pretty nice but touchy. all that is way second hand.

Thanks Saspotato. That link was exactly the kind of issues I was wondering about. Made perfect sense. I will avoid them 8-)

Did you have to go to a special scool to learn how to give advice like that or were you just born with that level of smart ass hardwired into your brain.

Thanks for that link saspotato ! that was more along the line of the info I was looking for. It's really no wonder that people don't post on SB and just come into read. It is a shame though. I actually found a dive buddy on here.

Good Morning !!! less than 8 hours ago Freedom of speech or more rightly, Questions, were again squashed. The right to ask questions with out fear, without being afraid someone would make your question ,hence you, out to be stupid was once again trampled on. We as a Scuba nation or "Scubakind" should lauch the largest Internet battle in the history of "Scubakind" "Scubakind" That word should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We should be united in our common interest. Perhaps its fate that today is the seventh of December, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom to ask questions... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... We are fighting for our right to ask questions. To exist. And should we win the day, the seventh of December will no longer be known as just another day in December, but the day the the ScubaBoard world declared in one voice:
"We will not go quietly into the night!" We're going to live on! we're going to post questions! Today we celebrate "aska question day"!

I really need to get up and do something this morning:D

Tomboyy - you have made your point. There is no reason to do quick, one line posts when people are using SB as a learning tool. If you have nothing to add to the conversation - don't post it. The rules for this forum:

Please note: This forum has special rules. This forum is intended to be a very friendly, "flame free zone" where divers of any skill level may ask questions about basic scuba topics without fear of being accosted. Please show respect and courtesy at all times. Remember that the inquirer is looking for answers that they can understand.
