Whale Sharks back in Utila

Just to let everyone know, the Whale Sharks are back in Utila we have been seeing them all week, i have seen them so many times but it is still amazing

What time of year are they typically around? I thought it was more around April/May ?

We usually see them from the very end of Feb begining of March. Then we see them in Sept and Oct and a couple of years ago we had quite a few in December.

Maybe I can schedule the time off then. 90% of the problem is getting the right flights (i.e. without sitting in Miami or Houston for 12-48 hours).

Try to contact Continental out of Houston there are new flights that go into Roatan on a Saturday and then straight onto a flight to Utila, if you are going though Miami contact TACA they do some good deals.

Did you know??

In a rather bizarre television stunt involving two whale sharks in a netted enclosure with 6 scuba divers the producers of "Jackass: The Movie" showed that whale sharks have a highly developed mechanism for locating their prey.

Two of the divers had stuffed their swimming-trunks with krill and were getting the shark?s undivided attention as the animals pushed them around trying to get to the krill....
