I've been very interested in whale sharks even though i haven't seen one yet. But does anyone knows the range of the whale sharks? As in their movement route and where they "hang" around most. Really want to see and dive beside these majestic creatures of the seas.

Cheers
Darren

No one knows for sure about their migration patterns etc but there are several areas of the planet that have "seasons" with more or less reliable sightings.

Here on the Ningaloo you can see them almost every day from April through May/early June at the southern end (Coral Bay) and from April through June and usually well into July at the northern end (Exmouth).

Utila, Mexico and the Philipines also have seasonal visitors (as do other places). A web search should find more details.

Hi

No one really knows but one individual migrated to the Western North Pacific, covering over 13,000 kilometers (more than 8,000 miles) in 37 months. In Australia, a whale shark was tracked using satellite tracking technology for 3,000 kilometers (nearly 2,000 miles) from Ningaloo Reef across the Indian ocean.

If you would like a write up I did on Whale Sharks, just message me and I will send you a copy.
