Hey,

Im coming to Melbourne for an exchange start feb -09 and leaving at the end of July. I have been looking into traveling to Ningaloo Reef and Monkey Mia.

Any suggestions on the best way to travel?

I know you can fly to these places but if I rented a car or took the greyhound are there lots of tons not advertised as heavily places that are worthy of a stop?

Would it be better to do one west coast before east or vice versa? I'm not really sure when school ends but when do students finish school?

Thanks

Depending on when you want to fly it is possible to fly Perth-Monkey Mia-Exmouth and return using Skywest. They don't offer this route every day of the week so you'll have to pick which day of the week you want to travel carelfully.

In general the drive from Perth to Exmouth (1,300 km) is long and boring with very little scenery. The second half is particularly boring with long stretches of moonscape or flat countryside with low bush.
