I am on Vacation in Delray beach, F.L. Staying with my brother Josh.
After making countless boat dives, on almost every charter boat in the area. I am looking for some beach dives? :06: I also want to get some lobsters and take him spearfishing so these beach dives should have some action???

anyone know some good locations for beach dives. Also Josh has open a can of worms. he has decided to get cert, so this will information will get him started and allow me to take him out more often.

and yes i am thinking about moving down, anyone got a part-time job for me too. ;)

Thanks for your help

You'll get lots more response if you have this thread moved to the Florida Conch Diver's section......maybe ask a mod if they'll move it for you.

There's not too much in the way of shore dives in Palm Beach County; you're relatively far south, so just head south to Pompano or south from there.......Lauderdale by the Sea is most well known, generally, for the shore diving availability. Check the Conch Diver's thread, as there is almost always someone headed out every week in the area.......for the most part, we're all happy to have safe new divers join in!

i used to work in wpb and honestly couldnt give you a really good beach dive site! underneath the singer island bridge maybe (you need slack tide) and def no lobsters.
my suggestion would be to contact pura vida divers at singer island. (nope that wasnt whom i worked for) def. very cool guys and at this point my top recommandation for the area. some of the owners grow up around there others diving there for many years, so the knowledge is there and it is a friendly "your ldc".

Take a drive to Lauderdale by the Sea. Go to the main beach, there will be a large fishing pier to the right of you. Stay about 100 yards to the North of the fishing pier while in the water. If you swim out about 50-75 yards you should hit a reef line at about 20 FSW or so. If you care to venture out further, about another 100 yards out is another reef line at about 40 FSW. I wouldn't go out much further than that, the rips and waves can be an issue.

I have done this dive, many, many times and had a blast. In fact, April 21, 22, and 23 Scuba Fest 2006 will be held there. They do beach dives there all weekeknd.

I agree with Mike. I've done the beach dive there too, and it was a 4 on a scale of 1-10.
We did see a lot of fish under the pier. There are several shops that rent gear close too.

Yes to LBTS,Second reef is nice,3rd you need a boat,
you should have no problem if your in the trades to find a job, need to get a perm res and a FL DL.
A pal of mine moved down after the last storm and dose not look like he will be back for a while, problem is after a day of working in th heat its hard to get the time or energy to dive he says!
Dive safe!
