We got back a couple of weeks ago (sorry it's late):depressed:. We stayed at a free standing house right on the beach (St. Macs http://www.vrbo.com/337737) which is next door to Infinity Bay. 20 steps from front door to the water. What a great location!!

Their driver met us at the airport and drove us to the supermarket in Coxen Hole (no charge for the stop) to pick up provisions for our 2 week stay. We cook in most of the time to save some money so we can afford to do 2 weeks. The apartment was modern and had everything you need. We did however find that the fridge was a little too small.

We dove with http://www.bananaramadivecenter.com/index.html which was a 2 minute walk down the beach. Their op was 1st class. Rinse area, drying racks and lock up was very convenient. We would normally do the 2 tanks in the am (between dives we would come back to the beach) and then most days would do a 3rd dive after lunch. After the 1st week a "Norther" came through and made diving the north side impossible so they put us in their van and took us on a 10 minute ride to the south side (Flowers Bay) to do our diving. A great option. We never missed a dive that we wanted to do. Always fresh fruit and water waiting for us after each dive. I can't say enough kudos for the staff. Mal the dive shop manager, DMs Sofia, Martin and Marco our DM through most all our dives (29 in total) and the boat captains made our diving experience the best. Our shortest dive was 1:05. Thanks all, you are the best!!

Vis was soso but not that bad. The reefs seem pretty healthy but on some dives the fish life seemed a little lacking. A lot of lionfish on every dive but also a lot of grouper, which was nice to see.

This was our 3rd trip to Roatan. The first trip was to CoCo View and the second was next door at Fantasy Island. I would go back to West Bay again before returning to the other 2. Not that the other 2 were bad, it's just that there is more freedom and choices than at an AI.

A few side notes: Our favorite restaurant was Island Pearl. We had Thanksgiving dinner at Blue Bahia in Sandy Bay with some expats that we met and they took us in, which was fantastic. The owner has a stone smoker which is where he cooked the turkey and had all the trimmings. It was nice having Thanksgiving dinner while watching palm trees sway against the blue water in the background.

Well that's it for now. It's off to Bonaire in March!! Can't wait!!
