Hi, we are going to Roatan for 2 weeks starting Jan 23. We are staying at the Henry Morgan resort. There are 10 of us going, and my wife and I will be finishing our open water course while there. Is there anything we should know about Roatan? What is there to do non-diving in the west bay area? Anyone dive with TGI at the Henry Morgan? I appreciate any and all advice. Thanks.

We just returned Saturday. We stayed at the Mayan Resort next to Henry Morgan. I don't know much about Henry Morgan, nor their dive shop, but I can't say enough good about Mayan Divers at the Mayan Resort. They are very personable and cater to making your diving experience safe and enjoyable. So I would strongly suggest you check them out, maybe even do a dive with them and then a dive with HM dive shop, then decide for yourself.

As far as non-diving stuff, the West Bay area, at least while we were there, was quiet and peaceful. There are some great walks along the beach. I would recommend you check out the Deli that is on the main road up from Bannanarama's. They have a great variety of sandwiches, and friendly service.

On the island itself, you can do the dolphin encounter at Anthony's Bay resort or go to the iguana farm.

If you are with a group the size you mentioned, you'll have good fun just hanging out together. The people at Henry Morgan's always seemed to be having fun.

Be prepared for cloudy, windy and rainy weather at times. About half of our trip it rained. But we didn't mind. I spent my time diving and my wife spent her time reading a good book.

We stayed at Henry Morgan twice last year and are going again in Feb. I did my OWD with the dive shop at the resort and thought they were really good but I can't compare them to any other places. You've made a good choice of resort if you are a mixed group who want to dive, snorkel, swim, lay on the beach and drink. Henry Morgan is an Italian owned resort and about 70% of the guests are Italian and the rest Canadian. The owners live on the property and it is very well run. Not fancy but very comfortable. Send me an e-mail if you have questions.

I know this thread is 3 years old. Is there any updates from someone who has been to Henry Morgans recently?
