I did my OW check out dive this past weekend:D . I have purchased all of my equipment except the tank and I really don't see the need to purchase a tank as there is not any close places to dive around here. We are looking to dive somewhere in destin. I would like to take my own boat and dive off of it.

If anybody could give me some advice it would be great.

Thanks

You might get some more and better answers if you filled out your dive profile a bit, so that people can know where you are. There may actually be diving options in your area, or closer than you think.

A lot of people don't own tanks, particularly if they only dive on trips.

I'll assume you mean Destin Fl? Well, the only advice I'd give you because you said you just finished OW is to have a good buddy and don't exceed your training. Leave a person abord the boat so you know it's going to be there when you return. Be safe.

On the other hand, I'm guessing you're near the coast since you want to take your boat to fl and most people aren't going to drive 500 miles towing a boat, nor own one if they're not near some kind of water. Look at the local forums such as mid west muck divers or whereever you hail from. You'll probably find diving near you. Whether you want to do it is another matter.

I live in Central MS and do own a fairly large boat but don't mind pulling it. I have people to stay with boat but also have a person who has been diving for quite a while as a buddy. Destin Fl correct

Mule:

Trot on over to the Deep Dixie Diver's forum Might I suggest Gulf Shores for some closer diving? Really active shore diving/inshore/spearfishing crowd there. Even I dive it!.

Destin is nice, though. I prefer the shorter trip to Gulf Shores/Orange Beach/Pensacola.

Yaaarr..ha...haarrr! Welcome a-board (litrully) ye ol scallywag!

May ye pill-age plenty o' treasure sos all yar maties stay in yar rum an' out yar pockets.

I bought all my equipment but my tanks too... and now I'm starting to think I need to buy two! I went for the rent philosophy too since there's no place to go diving around here either, yet everytime I go somewhere I end up driving anyways so it's a moot point. :(

Have fun and dive safe.

Welcome, Mulefeathers! The Florida panhandle is a good place to start, and Vortex is a good place to train. If you dive out of Destin, be on the lookout for these guys sticking their heads from holes or rubble:
