Well Here Goes!

Well, I did it! Signed up today to learn. I have a weekend in February for the PADI referral course then I'm off to Mauritius to do the open water dives. I'm really looking forward to it. The discussions and info on this board have really helped galvanise me. Especial thanks to those who contributed to my medical question.

I'll report back once I've had my first taster

Mauritius...
Last time I was there was in '75. We weren't diving though - we were using the ship evaps to provide fresh water after a hurricane, and helping restore electricity and water and sewer services ashore.
Beautiful island. Beautiful. Good rum.

I read your medical post and wanted to reply, but didn't know what to say that would be appropriate since you had already received replies from people far more knowledgeable than me on the subject.

So now I can - GOOD ON YOU for signing up! And lucky you to be doing your OW in Mauritius. May you get as much out of your soon to be new-found addiction (but what a good addiction this one is!) as we all do!

I left out one thing--I think you should take a doctor with you for those first OW dives. I could get a week off....
