If I may ask a further question.........

So just using round numbers to make this simple math, lets say your student is 200lbs in a bathing suit only, so you start them off with 10lbs of weight and add from there?

Do you have them in their full kit less wetsuit or including their normal dive kit?

I went to this link here just to see what they would say I need......

According to them (with my 7mm wetsuit) I should be at 22lbs, but I'm at 16lbs and feel like I could use less than that?

Lastly do you consider the required weight for just surface submerging, or do you take into account AOW depths of 100'?

Adjust the weight in your trim pockets. You can also try moving your tank up an inch or so.
