I have an integrated IDI Nekton BC and need to buy weights. I have always solid weights pulled from belts. I've never tried "bags" and not sure of the advantages. Any preferences? The pockets are velcro'ed in and large enough for either way.

Thanks for any info...

Either will probably work, but I like the soft weights better. If you're putting a lot of weight in the pockets, the soft ones are more configurable. In other words, you can kind of shape them to fit the space available. YMMV

I'm not quite sure what you meant by that line, I'm assuming a word was left out or something :crafty:

The weights I use in my BC were poured sometime in the 1960's. I have heard of a few boats that don't let solid weights on (in case they are dropped on deck i assume) but that was a privately owned boat, not a dive op's boat.

Use solid weights if you have them already, unless they don't fit nicely into your weight pockets.
